Doctor Who Celebrates 60

How do you mark 60 years of
flying through time and space in a TARDIS?
Challenge
The task was to create a limited edition boxed set for Doctor Who’s 60th Anniversary—the BBC show’s diamond jubilee. The focus of the boxed set is on the new Doctor Who series, which started in 2005 with the 9th Doctor Who and goes through the 13th Doctor Who. The target audience are all Whovians (Doctor Who fans).

Solution
I started this project by creating
a new logo for Doctor Who specifically
for the 60th anniversary. The logo is in
the shape of the Tardis and has a star field in it that I also created. The star field is a representation of the Tardis traveling through time and space.
Taking my cue from the logo, I created a boxed set with the Tardis as the centerpiece and vessel for all of the anniversary elements. The doors of the TARDIS open to reveal a series of drawers that contain the items in the set.
I designed the box containing the TARDIS with a die-cut on the front to make the Tardis partially visible. The front also features the 5 “new who” doctors. For the design, I created a series of star fields and a set of Galifreyan symbols. The Galifreyan symbols are based on Sherman's Galifreyan cypher. To add to the fun, I also included a VR element on the back of the box that allows the customer to enter a site where they can learn how to translate all of the Gallifreyan quotes on the box.
